One of The Rolling Stones’ most famous songs, Wild Horses is a beautiful track. The song’s protagonist declares that no matter what happens between the couple, nothing could ever tear them apart, not even wild horses. Over the years, this song has consistently been a popular choice for couples. We love The Sundays cover, the female vocal adds something extra special to the song.
Make You Feel My Love – Adele
Although Bob Dylan originally wrote this song, Adele’s cover is very popular among couples. Upon its release the song peaked at no.4 in the UK singles chart. Adele’s amazing voice takes this song to another level. Given the rise in popularity of Adele’s cover, perhaps we should have included Bob Dylan’s original version in our list?!
At Last – Beyonce
If you’ve been to a wedding in the past decade, there is a very good chance you have witnessed a couple’s first dance to At Last by Etta James. This song is a classic and we love the original, but if you would like to change it up, why not dance to Beyonce’s cover? Everyone loves some Queen B!
Sea of Love – Cat Power
Sea of Love is a song written by Phil Phillips, recorded in 1959. The song is very simple and sweet in its lyrics, with the protagonist telling his/her significant other that on the day they met, he/she knew they were meant for each other. You may recognize this version from the movie Juno!
You’re My Best Friend – The Once
We love this cover of Queen’s hit ‘You’re My Best Friend’. Straight forward in its lyrics, the song is about best friends and all the wonderful light they bring to one’s life. If you and your significant other are indeed best friends, this song is a top contender for the first dance song! We love The Once’s cover and its slow tempo makes it all the more romantic.
Can’t Help Falling in Love With You – Ingrid Michaelson
Originally an Elvis song, we adore American singer Ingrid Michaelson’s cover. Ingrid has the most beautiful voice, and her arrangement of the song is simply stunning. Guaranteed there won’t be a dry eye in the house on your big day. Waterproof mascara at the ready!
You’re The One That I Want – The Lennings
Ok, so this first dance song choice is very different and unusual! Yes the song is from the movie Greece, but The Lennings completely make it their own. It sounds completely different to the original and quite whimsical. Just imagine the look on your guests’ faces as they try to figure out why the song sounds so familiar!
